Albania, Solid Waste Management Programme DKTI

The overall objective of the project is the implementation of environmentally and hygienically sound, climate-friendly, sustainable and efficient municipal and regional solid waste management systems in selected Albanian waste management zones. The purpose of the Project is the protection of the environment and health of the population in the project regions. This is to contribute to reduce health risks and environmental pollution in Albania The specific objective of the Project is the supply of goods for municipal waste collection and transport as well as city cleanliness services ( installation of bins and containers, refuse collection vehicles, solid waste transportation vehicles, street cleaning equipment, equipment for cleaning riverbeds and beaches to avoid marine littering), contribution to the regional solid waste management infrastructure (construction of sanitary landfills, inert landfills, transfer stations, waste treatment facilities, the rehabilitation and closure of dumpsites and small scale investments in municipal infrastructure), as well as the enforcement of mobile operation equipment and implemtation of institutional support, financial management support and operational support and awareness raising measures.

A team of sector and subject related experienced international and local experts. One international Team Leader with comprehensive experience in the institutional and organisational development in the solid waste management sector who will be a permanent position in the project. A national deputy team leader shall have managerial experiences as well as experience in organisational development. The Team Will Be Supported By a Pool Of International And National Experts According To The Needs Of The Project, With Professional Experience In The Following Fields International/ national experts with institutional and organisational development experience in SWM International/ national experts with technical SWM experience International/ national experts with financial management and accounting experience in SWM International/ national experts with tariff experience International/ national experts with IT experience International/ national experts with human resources experience for public sector International/ national experts with visibility, communication, public awareness experience International/ national experts with training experience with emphasis on administrative and management training International/ national experts with experience in social issues related to SWM such as informal waste pickers on landfills International/ national experts with operation and maintenance experience
